Products

NCI’s products are polymer compounds developed to address significant performance needs in targeted applications. NCI does not mold or otherwise manufacture end use articles. Examples of markets and end uses include:

Energy. Elastomeric and thermoplastic materials are widely used in sealing elements in oil & gas and geothermal applications in situations where metallic materials will not suffice. Key performance attributes are metrics such as modulus at elevated temperature, abrasion resistance, and retention of sealing force over extended periods of time. Improvement in such metrics yields materials that are able to reliably function at higher temperatures, to withstand greater differential pressure, or to last longer in environments where seal changeout is an expensive undertaking.

Automotive. The automotive sector comprises the largest use of elastomeric materials. NCI is developing elastomer compounds for specific defense related applications where lifecycle cost (driven by wear and degradation) is the primary driver.

Medical. Both elastomer and thermoplastic materials are widely used in the medical field. NCI is working with technology leaders in this sector to develop materials that offer increased performance and flexibility in device design.
